About Us
We’re community organizers, and we believe in the power of people.
We know that real, lasting change requires more than righteous anger—it requires a program, and it requires ordinary people coming together to fight for the issues that matter to them. We believe that by acknowledging and nurturing the inherent power in all of us, we can work toward a more tolerant, just, and fair America.
OFA East Bay Central started as a local chapter of Organizing for Action (OFA): a national non profit organization, and our motto is "Respect, Empower, Include & Organize!".
Since 2013 we have been advocating the issues we care about at the local (East Bay, CA), state and Federal level. Our communities include Eden (Castro Valley, Hayward and San Lorenzo), Tri-City (Fremont, Newark, and Union City) and Tri-Valley (Danville, Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton and San Ramon).
We are a non-partisan grassroots organization, and all of us are volunteers. Our support on the campaigns and candidates does not depend on their party affiliation, but the values we share and believe in.
We organize around issues such as Climate Change, Education, Gun Violence Prevention, Health Care, Immigration, Re-districting, and Women Rights from National to State to Local level.
We attend and organize marches and rallies
We engage voters by canvassing, calling, texting and sending postcards
We help people register to vote in person, by mail and online
We participate in town halls, city councils, and school board meetings
We communicate with elected officials in many ways including meeting, calling, emailing, and tweeting
We write letters to the editor
We amplify our messages using Social Media
We attend and organize trainings to be more effective
Of course we simply get together to discuss issues too. It is much healthier than yelling at the TV!
